An alpha verson of Alitheia Core, a tool used to check the quality of open source software, has recently been released by the Software Quality Observatory for Open Source Software (SQO-OSS). Several companies, academic institutions, and open source projects have been working on the development of the checker throughout areas of Europe.
A press release recently suggested that the release of the tool should be considered a “usable alpha.” At the moment, a Web interface is available.
Studies have shown that European countries have been much more excepting of open source software, with France and Germany being the most accepting. The U.S. and Canada are slightly less accepting, whereas the U.K. continues to trail other countries in accepting and utilizing the software.
