The Open Solutions Alliance released information from their first annual survey, which questioned its members as well as other open source software companies. The Alliance officials report an overall feeling of “much optimism despite a murky economy.”
A reported 83% of survey participants noted a steady increase in revenue for open source software in 2008. A majority of the participants believed that the affordable price of the software was able to motivate their customers.
The survey also showed that a great deal of collaboration was occurring between various open source software companies and that 85% of participants are selling open source software that run on Microsoft Windows.
The Open Solutions Alliance is a non-profit group which works to increase the overall acceptance and use of open source software solutions.
